MY VISION
Why I am Running for Homer Township Supervisor
My decision to run for Homer Township Supervisor was influenced by observing the actions of the current administration, led by Homer Township Supervisor Steve Balich: such as,
Mishandling of Open Space · residents treated without respect · irresponsible spending · nepotism and patronage hiring · lack of communication with the community · lack of transparency · opening of bids behind closed doors · broken campaign promises, etc.
There are just too many things to list.
Someone needs to step forward and do a ReSet. I will with the help of the Homer Township ReSet candidates:
· Properly Maintain Homer Township Property
· Preserve Open Space Forever
· Keep Residents Informed of Changes in Zoning and Potential New Development in Unincorporated and Incorporated areas.
· Improve Transparency and Accountability
· Improve Processing of FOIA Requests
· End Nepotism and Patronage Hiring
· Reduce Duplication of Services by Working with Other Government Entities
· Improve Services to Seniors and Veterans
· Encourage Active Resident Participation and Involvement in Homer Township Government
· Treat All Residents with Respect and Listen to Their Concerns
· Will Not Raise Taxes
My Background
In 1995 (more than 29 years ago), my husband, Gary, and our two sons moved to Homer Township. We were impressed by the rural character, wooded landscapes, nearby parks, sports opportunities, the Homer Township Library, as well as the community and the historic buildings in Lockport. With a convenient drive to family and friends in the city and suburbs, Homer Township was an ideal location for our family to live.
Having been a community volunteer before moving to Homer Township, I immediately became a volunteer in my new community.

Village of Homer Glen - Volunteer
When I heard that warehouse development was being planned for some areas of Homer Township, I became more aware of how development affects our quality of life. It takes awareness and citizen involvement to make a difference in preserving the character and beauty of any community. Many residents recognized the need to have representation in determining future development in Homer Township and worked to form the Village of Homer Glen.
When the Village of Homer Glen was incorporated in 2001, I signed up to volunteer. As a Village of Homer Glen volunteer, I served on the following committees:
· Parks and Environment Committee
· Environment Committee
· Co-authored $110,000 award winning Green Communities Demonstration Grant application for Homer Glen’s Green Vision

My wife Regina and I built our home in Homer Township in 1997, which we share with our 3 rescue dogs.
We saw the beauty of Homer Township and supported the incorporation of Homer Glen as a way to control the destiny of our area and seek responsible development.
I became a volunteer with the Village from the beginning with the Homer Glen Emergency Management Agency. I became the Coordinator of the EMA in 2004, and also served on the Public Services and Safety Committee.
I became a full-time staff member for the Village in 2010 and eventually became the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities. I served on the Parks Committee and the Homerfest Committee as a staff member. My wife served as a volunteer with the Emergency Management Agency and also with the Parks Committee.
Currently I am the Assistant Public Works Director for the City of Oak Forest, Regina is a retired Police Officer.
I have lived in Homer Township for over 33 years in Sylvan Hills Subdivision with my
Husband, Terry. We have three grown children who all attended Homer Schools and
Lockport Township High School. We have 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. Our oldest
daughter and her Husband live in Homer Township and our 3 grandsons currently attend
Homer Schools.
I was the Secretary for the “Original Zoning Board”. I also served on the Homer PTO for 10
years at all Homer Schools when my children were young.
I was also on the Board of the “Homer Glen Foundation” and also helped with the “Mike
Hike”.
I was also on the “Community and Development Committee” until the last Election in
March of 2024.
I’m currently a member of the “Homer Glen Woman’s Club” for over 12 years serving on the
Fundraising and Membership Committees.
I currently work for Orthopaedic Surgeons in Palos Hills.
I am a devoted but disgruntled Chicago Bears Fan & Season Ticket holder.
I look forward to bringing transparency and accountability to all residents, putting residents
first and bringing the Community together. Also, ending hateful rhetoric, being professional
in our interactions with others and ending the “Drama”.
I Love this Community and look forward to being your “Township Clerk”. I hope to have your
vote for our entire group on February 25th, so that we can lead “Homer Township” to the
future we all deserve. Let’s “ReSet Homer Township”.
As a 38-year resident of Homer Township, I love my community and want nothing but the best for the area that helped shape me into the person I am. I was raised in Pebble Creek, growing up in the Homer Township 33C school district before attending Providence Catholic High School. I have witnessed firsthand the incorporation of the Village of Homer Glen, as well as the careful growth of both the Village and Township. I currently reside in the Broken Arrow community in Lockport.
Homer Township is home to a vibrant and close-knit community, with many of us drawn to this beautiful area because of its cherished Open Spaces and small-town charm. However, over time, we've seen a shift in the neighborly spirit that once defined us. I am committed to helping restore that sense of connection and unity, ensuring that every resident feels heard and valued.
I look forward to serving ALL Homer Township residents if given the opportunity – working to bring our community together through transparency and active involvement in the local issues that affect us all. Together, we can rebuild the bonds that make this area truly special.
A Little Background
My wife Karen and I have lived in Homer Glen for 23 years. We raised 2 amazing kids here and now we are on to Grandparent duty. I love this community and I love serving my community. I have been an active member of Homer for years serving in various volunteer and elected positions. Community service has always been a hallmark of mine. I helped create and develop the Cards for Seniors during the shut-in days of the pandemic, I have created the Retired American Flag collection program and I helped with the founding of Post 2011 American Legion in Homer Glen.
Community Advocate and Voice of Reason Being
an effective member of any Board involves working toward solutions and building working relationships. I believe that you cannot make progress if you do not have the understanding and buy-in from your Board colleagues. The Township is a very diverse set of residents and opinions and when you are unwilling to hear them or see the merit of the other side, you will not get very far. I put my energies into positive outcomes - I think the body of this message shows that my energies have been put to good use. Conservative values have been my guiding principles. Doing more with less. Smaller, more efficient government that works for the residents. Expanding economic opportunity for all. These are some of the beliefs that guide my service.
Accomplishments
While serving as a Village Trustee, we passed four conservative, balanced,surplus-producingg budgets. We expanded the Hero’s Trail system by creating three new connectors and five miles of new trail along 159th Street. We built and opened four new parks including Heritage Park and the Active Core. We retired the Village Bonds early saving over $500,000! We created the Public Works Department which enabled us to lower the roads tax levy from $4.5 million to $1.5 million saving the taxpayers $3 million per year.
The Work Continues
I enjoy serving my community and I appreciate the opportunity that YOU have given me in the past. I sincerely ask for your Vote for our entire group so that we can lead Homer Township to the future we all deserve. Thank You!
I have lived in Homer Township since April of 1981. I grew up in Meadowview, raised my two amazing daughters in that very home until 2015 and now proudly call Lockport my home with them.
I've been a loyal employee of JPMorgan for 17 years. The past 9 of those years have been as either a licensed investment assistant or a financial advisor. I hold Series 7, Series 66, Life Insurance and Health Insurance licenses. If you can't find me at the Orland Park branch, I'm probably at a softball field, a basketball or volleyball court cheering my daughters on loudly and proudly, or at home yelling at the TV watching my beloved sports teams (and scaring both them and our cat in the process.)
I believe that the community deserves some positive changes. Let's face it... politics get ugly... they don't have to be. I'm new, but I'm a quick study and pour my heart and soul into things I'm passionate about. As a single mother, I know how to be fiscally responsible since I raise two teenage girls in very expensive extra-curricular activities.
I look forward to bringing fresh ideas to the table and cannot wait to bring class and decency back to Township Government. I particularly adore our Veterans and our seniors and look forward to serving them. I intend on being an exemplary Homer Township Trustee and hope to have your vote in February!
Ken Marcin is a proud resident of the Village of Homer Glen and has lived there for the past 23 years. Ken is seeking one of four trustee positions in the April 25, 2025, Homer Township Republican Primary as a Homer Township Reset candidate.
Ken is a contract worker at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Chicago. As a contractor, Ken currently works for Accenture LLC and is an IT hardware inventory and logistics lead. Ken has worked for over 8 years as a contractor with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Prior to his employment as a contractor, Ken worked in the treasury department for HSBC Bank for over 17 years. He is a graduate of Roosevelt University and has a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Ken has been a committed and dedicated volunteer in his community. Ken is currently the Homer Township Republican Committeeman for Homer Township Precinct 7. In addition, Ken serves as a member of the Village of Homer Glen Community Development Committee. Having a passion for youth sports, Ken coached for both the Homer Athletic Club recreational baseball program and the Homer Stallions football program. In addition, Ken has served as a proud board member for the Homer Athletic Club holding the position of Vice President for over 9 years. Ken attends Our Mother of Good Counsel Church in Homer Glen. Ken volunteers his time as a Eucharist minister, usher and has served as a religious education aide for over 8 years. Ken is actively involved with the Knight of Columbus Catholic Fraternal Organization and is currently a first-degree knight.
Ken is currently engaged to the wonderful Lisa Lorek. He has two amazing adult children Kenny Jr. and Meaghan, who both attended Will County School District 92 and graduated from Lockport High School. Ken also has an extremely close relationship with Lisa’s adult sons Alex and Dylan, who attended Homer School District 33 and graduated from Lockport High School.
In Ken’s spare time, he enjoys a good game of golf, listening to late 70’s / early 80’s music, day trips, vacationing with Lisa, holidays with this family, grilling, watching classic comedies, and walking his dog Milo around Sendra Park. In closing, Ken believes in conservative strength, bold solutions, the American spirit, faith, freedom, and building a better future. As President Reagan once said, “Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives”.
Thank you and God Bless
I have lived in Homer Township with my wife, Kate, since 2003. We started our residency in Victoria Crossings (City of Lockport, Homer Township), and moved to Windmill Estates (Unincorporated Homer Township) in 2009. We are in the process of raising two beautiful children, who have experienced, and are experiencing, all the great attributes that Homer Township has to offer.
I’m originally a Chicago South Sider - an avid, yet perpetually disappointed, White Sox and Bears fan. I grew up in the Catholic school system and value faith and religion. I’m a CPA, which necessitates a strict understanding of fiscal responsibility, and also requires a high level of ethical standards and transparency. I will apply those professional skills to ensure transparency and accountability to the running of the township.
I love the mix of Homer Township – the carefully measured growth of business and development with the small town, community feel with Open Space. I believe it’s important to maintain that balance.
In recent years, the feeling of community has dissipated; there has been so much division and anger. I look forward to bringing back decency, kindness, and a true sense of community to Homer Township.
